Greensburg home has 50 Christmas Trees!

December 12, 2008 - Leave a Response

Question: How do you fit 50 Christmas Trees in a 2 bedroom ranch?

Answer: Very carefully!

The owners of a Greensburg home did just that. When asked to be on a holiday home tour to raise money for a local museum, George Shaner and Michael Philopena went all out. They put up 50 Christmas trees all over the house – and I mean everywhere. Even in the bathroom! They also outdid themselves with a room full of teddy bears – 837 of them – all Christmas themed, wired to a dozen trees. It was AWESOME! They started decorating in October, when the rest of us where carving pumpkins! They say it won’t take nearly as long to put away – just about month!

Mini Parade of Trees in Greensburg Reception, Friday November 7th……

I just had to blog about this event – and the cute little Christmas Trees on display at the Just Miniature Shop in Greensburg from now until December 14th.  The shop owner, Judy Mizikar, who is known regionally for her doll house creations, developed this fundraiser to support the Trib’s charity, Operation Santa Claus, that provides food for needy families during the holidays.  She asked friends and family to decorate six inch trees – and this year she got 66 back!  They each have different themes, and people can vote on their favorite by making cash donations.  You can bid on ones you want to take home in a silent auction.  Last year she raised $3,500, and once you see the trees, you’ll know she will probably raise even more this year!
